The ACE Bermuda Underwriting Graduate Trainee Program (GTP) offers just that – an opportunity to hone your skills and shape your abilities. ACE Bermuda’s Underwriting GTP is a two-year program which aims to provide Bermudians interested in pursuing a career in underwriting, with professional and personal development opportunities while gaining practical work experience.
This is a self-driven two-year program that will include a blend of workshops, presentations, online self-study and instructor-led training, on-the-job learning and an overseas secondment. It will also include participation in ACE’s US training program, access to a mentor, and professional designation studies.
Who Can Apply?
The ACE Bermuda Underwriting GTP welcomes university graduates from recognized risk management programs, accredited universities, and high performing existing employees desiring a career in underwriting.
To be eligible for the GTP, candidates must possess:
- Bermudian citizenship/status
- A university degree from an accredited institution
- Strong academic record
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking, analytical and numeracy skills
- Demonstrated extracurricular activities/leadership
How to Apply?
Candidates interested in the GTP should apply by:
- Submitting a completed GTP application form no later than 15 April 2010 via email to the Human Resources Department at hr@acelimited.com or deliver by hand along with the following documents:
- Most recent transcripts
- Current resume
- Proof of Bermudian status
Selection Process
The selection process will take place as follows:
- Interviews will take place in May
- HR will conduct initial interviews and short-listed candidates will be invited to a second interview with HR and business representatives
- Successful candidates will commence employment at an agreed upon date.
The Graduate Trainee Program Experience
The trainee will operate within the framework of the goals and objectives outlined by the assigned department. Participants of the GTP should expect that at the end of the two-year program they will have received a well-rounded professional insurance education and will have had the opportunity to gain industry knowledge, and professional and technical skills.

The program is designed to provide the structure necessary to ensure focused development while allowing the trainee the flexibility to develop the technical skills relevant to the business specialty where the trainee is placed. The basic components of the program are outlined below:
